Event Details

The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. Fred Lebow believed that running is for everyone. A visionary genius, he co-founded the New York City Marathon in 1970 and served as president of NYRR and race director of the marathon for 22 years. Under his leadership, the marathon was transformed from a small race in Central Park to a five-borough extravaganza. Lebow was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1990 and he died at age 62 on October 9, 1994. Celebrate and honor Lebow at this annual cross country event!
