2018 Armory Indoor Track and Field Camp is now in its 2nd year after a successful beginning in 2017. This year will feature some of the best coaching minds in the sport and some of the finest American athletes in track & field.
The event will take place at the Historic New York City Armory in Washington Heights at 216 Fort Washington Ave. The Armory is the site to one of the finest indoor track & field facilities in the world with state of the art features within the walls of a historic New York City landmark.
The structure of the event will vary slightly from last year by featuring a morning and afternoon session. This will allow all student-athletes the opportunity to register for more than one event or attend for just a half day.
7:00-8:00am: Morning session check in & day of registration
8:00-8:30am: Welcome & staff athlete and coach introductions (arena floor)
8:30-8:45am: Split into groups and warm up
8:30-10:00am: Individual group work
10:00-10:30am: Breakout session (flexibility, lifting or nutrition)
10:30-11:30am: Individual group work
11:30am-12:00pm: Q&A with staff athletes & coaches in individual groups
12:00-12:15pm: Recap of session, release athletes
12:30-1:30pm: Afternoon session check in & day of registration
1:30-2:00pm: Welcome & staff athlete and coach introductions (arena floor)
2:00-2:15pm: Split into groups and warm up
2:00-3:30pm: Individual group work
3:30-4:00pm: Breakout session (flexibility, lifting or nutrition)
4:00-5:00pm: Individual group work
5:00-5:30pm: Q&A with staff athletes & coaches in individual groups
5:30-5:45pm: Recap of session, release athletes
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes, this camp is reserved for athletes in grades 9-12.
Will the camp be active practice sessions or just lecture?
The camp will be a mix of both. All attendees will learn about the events from the staff members, but will also go through a series of drills and practice sessions during the camp.
Can I participate in more than one event group?
Yes! New this year an athlete can register for one event group in the morning and another event group in the afternoon.
What should I bring?
Athletic wear, running shoes, spikes (no spikes will be allowed in the shoes), water bottle
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM THE ARMORY
The Armory is located at the corner of 168th Street, off Broadway. It is accessible off the West Side Highway or the FDR. The Armory is also in close proximity to public transportation. Below is a listing of the different ways available to access the Armory.
We are located one block west of the 168th Street stop off the A, C and 1 trains.
The M4 stops directly in front of our building on Fort Washington Avenue.
M100, Bx7, M5 and M3 have stops one block west of the Armory on Broadway & 168th Street
Car Service / Taxi
Taxis can often be hailed off the street. In front of Milstein Hospital and near bus stops are easy places to catch them. If you are unable to locate a cab, there are also a number of car services available.
